What 369 Actually Is (and What It Cannot Do)

369 is a writing practice. You write what you want three times in the morning, six times at midday, and nine times at night, usually for thirty-three days.

What the practice can do

Writing a sentence at three set times a day acts as a cue. It keeps your aim in front of you when you are most likely to drift. It can calm you down, and it can help you start. Those are real, ordinary effects, and they come from you, not from the numbers.

What it cannot do

There is no evidence that writing a sentence 369 times makes money, a house, or a job appear. Anyone who says it does is selling a feeling. The story that it comes from Nikola Tesla is also shaky: the famous quotes about 3, 6 and 9 are not reliably sourced to him.

How to use it well

  1. Write an intention about who you are becoming, not just what you want to receive.
  2. Pair every writing session with one real action that day, however small.
  3. Keep a short record of what you did and what it produced.

The book covers this in Chapter 4, and the free 33-Day Tracker is built for it.
